Treatments:
The basic concept of chiropractic is that a spinal problem can have wide reaching effects through nerve disturbance. Most of the nerves to the limbs and internal organs originate from the spine. Thus a problem in the spine can lead to interference in nerve pathways and this in turn can cause pain or loss of function in the areas the nerves supply.
Chiropractic is now the third largest healthcare profession in the western
world.
Chiropractic Education and Recognition
Alison Harvey and Edmund Kilday both followed a full time five year course at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. They are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), a statutory body that has regulated chiropractic in the UK since June 2001. The GCC ensures only safe, properly trained practitioners can call themselves ‘chiropractor’, providing quality assurance for patients.
AK uses muscles to test for basic mechanical defects, organ and gland dysfunction, cranial and pelvic distortions, allergies, toxicity problems and stress levels in the body.
Treatment draws on the knowledge of various natural health therapies including manipulation, massage, cranial work, acupressure and advice on nutritional support, diet and the use of homeopathic remedies and herbs. This means the practitioner can approach the health concerns of the body in a holistic manner and consider not only the structure of the body (which is primarily addressed in chiropractic care) but also consider the chemical and emotional functioning of the individual.

Visceral Manipulation is used to locate and solve problems throughout the body. It encourages your own natural mechanisms to improve the functioning of your organs, counteract the negative effects of stress, enhance movement of the musculoskeletal system through the connective tissue attachments, and influence general metabolism.
There
are times when one or more of the internal organs (viscera) is not functioning
at an optimal level or is putting a strain on other parts of the body. A
person with asthma, for example, often is unable to breathe normally and
therefore the lung tissues are restricted. This, in turn, can cause altered rib motion
that affects the spine, leading to neck pain or headaches. Without intervention such a cycle will often
continue as the internal organs, in this case the lungs, are in continuous use.
These gentle manipulations can potentially improve the functioning of the particular organ, its role in the body and the structural balance of the individual. Due to the delicate and often highly reactive nature of the visceral tissues, gentle force precisely directed reaps the greatest results. As with other methods of manipulation that affect the body deeply, Visceral Manipulation works only to assist the forces already at work. Because of that, trained therapists can be sure of benefiting the body rather than adding further injury or disorganization.
