CranioSacral
Therapy is concerned with achieving optimum freedom of function of the
cerebrospinal system and the connective tissues of the body. The cerebrospinal
system consists of the brain and spinal cord and the fluid, membranes and bones
which surround them. The title “CranioSacral” comes from cranium (bones of
the skull) which surrounds the upper end of the cerebral spinal system and the
sacrum (tail bone) which provides the lower attachment of the system.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, light touch, non-invasive
technique which aims to allow the body to self-correct. Using the bones
surrounding the cerebrospinal system as handles, any restrictions can be
released, allowing normal function to be
re-established.
CranioSacral Therapy can be used in all age groups, and indeed is perhaps best known for the treatment of children and babies. In adults, CranioSacral Therapy is often used to help with headaches and migraine, immune conditions, chronic pain, fatigue, depression and problems following accidents.
